Summer Kindermusik®
Click here for sample descriptions of some of the summer options.

Kindermusik® Village is for infants (with parent) from birth-17 months. It fosters social development, creativity, and self esteem through exposure to music. Many of the class activities and materials can easily be adapted for use at home.

Kindermusik® Our Time is for children 18 months to 3 years of age. Eight to 12 children, each with a parent or caregiver, meet weekly with the teacher for a 30 minutes class. This class is also offered in one week (one hour per day) camps. The class stimulates the child's musical development through singing, listening, movement, and instrument playing.

Kindermusik® Adventures includes the Around the World class for children 3 1/2 to 5 years, and the Near and Far class for children 5 1/2 to 7 years of age. Both camps involve singing, movement, crafts, listening, games, and dramatic play. Each day the children "visit" different parts of the world and learn about music and instruments. The fun-filled one week camps meet daily for three hours (snack provided). Registration for all Kindermusik classes is on a first-come first-serve basis. Each class is limited to 12 children.

Private Lessons
Students of all ages and abilities may enroll for private lessons for an eight week summer session. Qualified, experienced teachers are available to teach a variety of band and orchestral instruments, voice, piano, and guitar.

Instrument Sampler Camps
Designed for students who want to explore one of the featured instruments and have little or no experience, these camps meet for three hours daily for one week and are open to children ages 5-12. Instruction is divided by ages: 5-8 and 9-12. Students participate in a music fundamentals class which combines basic music theory (learning the names of the notes and rhythms) and music appreciation (learning to recognize instruments and basic music terms). Music and motion class strengthens the student's understanding of pulse, rhythm, and meter through games and group activities. Daily group lessons on the student's chosen instrument provide an indepth hands-on experience. Instruments included in the sampler camps are: piano, violin, cello, guitar, recorder, and drums. Instruments (except pianos) are not provided by the CMS (rental and purchase information is available through the CMS office).

String & Piano Camps
Students with experience playing piano, violin, viola, cello, string bass, or harp and have note reading skills may enroll for a one week camp which meets daily for three hours. String instruction will be divided between playing in the larger string orchestra, participating in small chamber groups, and attending Suzuki violin class and master classes. Pianists will participate in master classes, attend music theory class, and participate in a number of performance classes. A recital ends both camps.

Summer Arts Camp
Designed for students to explore the performing and visual arts, this camp offers beginning level instruction and is open to students ages 5-12 with instruction divided into ages 5-6, 7-9, 10-12. The camp meets for three hours daily for one week. Camp classes include music, dance, art, and theatre.
