SOUTH CENTRAL SOCIETY FOR MUSIC THEORY

The South Central Society for Music Theory is open to all interested music theorists, professionals, or students, regardless of locality, although we serve primarily the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee.  Dues are $20 annually ($15 for students), with an additional $5 conference fee for those attending the annual meeting.

SCSMT Student Award

The SCSMT encourages students to submit proposals for the Outstanding Student Paper Award. All full-time students are eligible for the $100 award which is presented at each year's annual meeting, at the discretion of the Society.  To be considered, please indicate full-time student status in the cover letter; candidates will be required to submit a paper copy of the full paper prior to the conference.
 



Annual Conference 2007

SCSMT will meet jointly with the Southern Chapter of the American Musicological Society on February 9-10, 2007, at Louisiana State University.

CALL FOR PAPERS

SCSMT 2008 CONFERENCE

University of Mississippi (Ole Miss)

Oxford, Mississippi

February 15-16, 2008

The South Central Society for Music Theory announces its 2008 Annual Meeting at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in Oxford, 15-16 February 2008. The program committee solicits paper proposals dealing with any aspect of music theory, analysis, and pedagogy.

Papers should be approximately 20-25 minutes in length, allowing time for discussion within 30-minute presentation slots. Scholars and students from all regions of the country are invited to submit proposals.

POSTMARK DEADLINE: December 15, 2007. Confirmation of proposals received will be made electronically upon their receipt.
