Dr. Cowgill received her master's degree from Peabody Conservatory at The Johns Hopkins University, where she graguated with honors. At Peabody she studied with Ruth Drucker. She earned her Bachelor's degree in voice performance from Oberlin Conservatory, where she studied with the internationally renowned voice pedagogue Richard Miller. In addition to her college studies, she was awarded fellowships to participate in summer music festivals including The Tanglewood Festival, where she studied with Phyllis Curtin, and the Chautauqua Summer Institute, where she worked with Marlena Malas. Dr. Cowgill has performed in operas, oratorios, and musicals throughout the region, including solo performances with The Atlanta Choral Guild and the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra. Her stage appearances include roles in such operas as The Magic Flute, The Coronation of Poppea, The Seagull, Pirates of Penzance, and Little Red Riding Hood. Her most recent musical theatre roles include Lady Larken in Once Upon a Mattress and Laurey in Oklahoma. [Back to Voice Faculty] [Home]
