Vocal Performing Ensembles

The University Singers is the School of Music's premier choral ensemble and consists of 30-40 voices selected by audition.

The University Opera Theater consists of students and faculty and produces fully staged operas each year. In addition, opera scenes programs are the culmination of the Opera Workshop, which is an important part of the curriculum for voice majors from sophomore through graduate levels. Participation in Opera Workshop introduces the student to the sophistication and skills required of the singing actor. Membership in these ensembles is determined by audition.
A new Opera Theatre webpage is under construction. In the meantime, please contact Prof. Paul Houghtaling at (205) 348-3396 for information on the University of Alabama Opera Theatre..

Open to all University of Alabama students, the University Chorus offers a year-long opportunity to prepare and present varied music composed for the symphonic choir from Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and 20th-century stylistic periods.

The Alabama Women's Chorale performs choral music of the highest possible quality, providing a year-long opportunity to prepare and present varied compositions for women's voices from major stylistic periods.
