"Scribes and Scholars, Signs and Sounds"

Elizabeth Aubrey

Elizabeth Aubrey is Professor of Music at the University of Iowa. Author of The Music of the Troubadours and editor of Songs of the Women Trouvères; contributor to the new editions of the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians and Die Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart. Director of Musick's Feast, a professional early music ensemble, and currently recording songs of women trouvères based on her edition for Yale University Press. Recipient of grants from the American Council of Learned Societies and the NEH.

The lecture "Scribes and Scholars, Signs and Sounds" was presented at The University of Alabama School of Music under the aegis of the School's Endowed Chair in Musicology.
